معرفی
Dr. Jennifer Waby is an Associate Professor in the School of Chemistry & Biosciences at the University of Bradford, part of the Faculty of Life Sciences. Her research focuses on molecular mechanisms linking diet to colorectal cancer, gut microbiota impacts, and cancer biomarkers. She has held academic positions at the University of Hull and Leeds Beckett University, specializing in biochemistry education for Nutrition and Dietetics students.
Education:
- PhD (University of Sheffield) under Dr. Andrew Grierson and Prof. Pamela Shaw, studying axonal transport defects in motor neuron disease
- Postdoctoral work with Dr. Bernard Corfe on butyrate's role in colorectal cancer
Research Interests: Investigates how dietary components modulate colonocyte function, particularly fiber's protective effects against colorectal cancer. Current projects include 'Faecal Matters' exploring probiotic effects on gut microflora and cancer biomarker identification for therapeutic applications.
Awards:
- MRC VIP 3-month Fellowship (2010) supporting independent research on diet-cancer mechanisms
Teaching & Roles: Teaches genetics, cell biology, and pathology. Maintains active research lab integrating dietary interventions, microbial ecology, and translational oncology research.
