Jennifer Tour Chayes

Jennifer Tour Chayes is the Dean of the College of Computing, Data Science, and Society and Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, and Information at the University of California, Berkeley. She previously led Microsoft Research labs in New England, NYC, and Montreal for 23 years. Her research focuses on network science, machine learning, and computational biology, including foundational work on graphons for large-scale network analysis. She holds a Ph.D. in Mathematical Physics from Princeton University and has been awarded honorary doctorates from Bard College and Leiden University.

Chayes' honors include the Anita Borg Leadership Award, SIAM John von Neumann Prize, and membership in the National Academy of Sciences. She advises on climate change AI, biomedical research, and tech governance. Her work bridges computer science, mathematics, and social sciences, with over 150 publications and 30 patents.
