Jennifer T. McGuire

Jennifer T. McGuire is a Professor at the University of St. Thomas, affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences. Her expertise lies in environmental biogeochemistry and interdisciplinary environmental science, focusing on the interplay between hydrogeology, microbiology, and geochemistry in natural systems. She teaches courses such as Biology of Sustainability and Intro to Environmental Science, emphasizing global environmental challenges and sustainable solutions.

Research Interests: Dr. McGuire investigates coupled biogeochemical cycles in anaerobic environments, redox processes influencing contaminant fate, and microbial mediation of nutrient cycles. Her work addresses ecological sustainability and human health risks in wetlands, estuaries, and engineered systems.

Teaching & Service: She actively contributes to the Liberal Arts Advantage initiative and collaborates with community partners on environmental projects. Courses in Fall 2025 include BIOL 209 (Biology of Sustainability) and ESCI 132 (Intro to Environmental Science).
