Jennifer Silcox

Dr. Jennifer Silcox is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Western Ontario's Faculty of Social Science. Her research focuses on criminology with specialization in gender, youth crime, and media representations of violence. She holds a PhD in Sociology from Western University.

Her research interests examine social inequality through qualitative methodologies and intersectional frameworks. She investigates how media constructs moral panics around youth violence and gendered crime patterns.

Dr. Silcox collaborates with international institutions including the University of South Carolina and London healthcare centers. She actively engages in community outreach with justice-involved women and educational initiatives on campus regarding sexual violence prevention and restorative justice.
