Jennifer Ronholm is an Assistant Professor at McGill University's Macdonald Campus, holding dual prestigious appointments as a Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in Agricultural Microbiology and a William Dawson Scholar. She is affiliated with the Department of Animal Science Food Science and Agricultural Chemistry within the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
Dr. Ronholm's research centers on the critical intersection of agricultural production and microbiological science. Her work investigates how microbial communities influence food safety, animal health, and sustainable production systems. She specializes in understanding microbiome dynamics and developing alternatives to antibiotics through bacterial competition mechanisms.
Her research interests span sustainable crop and livestock production, food safety, agri-food pathogens, dairy science, and the One Health approach connecting human, animal, and environmental health. Dr. Ronholm focuses particularly on how microbiome composition affects susceptibility to pathogens and how to harness beneficial bacterial interactions for disease prevention.
