Jennifer is a qualitative researcher specializing in public health topics with particular expertise in tobacco control, smoking cessation during pregnancy, and infant feeding practices. Her research has significantly contributed to understanding the impact of financial incentives on smoking cessation in pregnant women. She has led process evaluations for major clinical trials including the Cessation in Pregnancy Incentives Trial (CPIT) and the Financial Incentives for Preventing Postpartum return to Smoking (FIPPS) trial. Currently, she serves as the main Scottish researcher for two large multi-centre UK randomized controlled trials funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR): the BabyBreathe trial and the Assets-based feeding help Before and After Birth (ABA-feed) trial.
Jennifer is currently pursuing a PhD by publication based on her work on the CPIT III process evaluation, demonstrating her ongoing commitment to advancing research in maternal and child health.
Jennifer's work primarily focuses on collaborative research projects rather than individual advising of students. Her research has been supported through major funding from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) for significant multi-center trials in the UK.
As a Research Fellow at the Institute for Social Marketing, Jennifer works within a team focused on health behavior research, particularly in the areas of tobacco control and maternal-child health. Her work involves close collaboration with researchers from multiple institutions including the University of Glasgow, University of East Anglia, and University of Birmingham on large-scale clinical trials.
