Jennifer I. Vidrine

Dr. Jennifer I. Vidrine serves as Assistant Center Director of Research Community Partnerships within the Health Outcomes and Behavior Program at the University of South Florida. With a PhD in Clinical Psychology from USF and an MS from the University of Central Florida, she has established herself as a leading researcher in tobacco control and health disparities.

Dr. Vidrine's research program focuses on eliminating health disparities through evaluating tailored health risk communications, examining mechanisms underlying changes in risk perceptions, developing smoking cessation interventions for vulnerable populations, and implementing healthcare systems-level tobacco treatment approaches. Her work particularly emphasizes underserved communities including cancer survivors, HIV-positive individuals, and racial/ethnic minorities.

Her publication record demonstrates consistent expertise in tobacco cessation research, with recent work examining innovative delivery methods including digital platforms, community partnerships (like YMCA-based programs), and culturally tailored interventions for specific populations such as Cambodian HIV patients. Her research often employs mixed methods approaches and focuses on implementation science to bridge the gap between evidence and practice.

Dr. Vidrine has successfully secured continuous funding for her research program over the past 16 years through grants from the National Institutes of Health (National Cancer Institute), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and the Cancer Prevention Research Institute of Texas. Current projects include developing machine learning approaches to tobacco cessation, partnering with food banks to reach underserved smokers, and enhancing long-term abstinence among cervical cancer survivors.
