Jennifer Hill is an Associate Professor of English and Chair of Women’s Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), housed within the Gender, Race, and Identity (GRI) Program. She earned her Ph.D. in English Literatures and Language from Cornell University (2000), alongside an M.A. (1998) and MFA (1992), and a B.A. from Stanford University (1986).
Her research focuses on British literature of the long nineteenth century, particularly the Romantic and Victorian periods, with emphasis on gender studies and cultural studies. She explores topics like Arctic imagery in 19th-century British literature and intersections of literature with identity. Courses and publications reflect her engagement with literary analysis and critical pedagogy.
Hill actively contributes to interdisciplinary programs, including minors in ethnic studies, Holocaust/Genocide/Peace studies, and religious studies through GRI. She emphasizes teaching critical reading/writing skills and fostering articulate self-expression in students.
