Jennifer H. Stern is an Assistant Professor at the College of Medicine, University of Arizona. Her research focuses on metabolic biology, endocrinology, and aging mechanisms with a particular emphasis on glucagon signaling, caloric restriction, and obesity-related pathophysiology. She investigates how metabolic adaptations to exercise, dietary interventions, and hormonal pathways influence healthspan and lifespan in aging populations.
Her work spans preclinical studies using mouse models to human clinical investigations, exploring topics such as metabolic homeostasis, adipose tissue biology, and cardiometabolic risk factors in obesity. She collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to advance understanding of hormonal regulation in aging and disease contexts.
Recent studies include analyses of glucagon’s role in caloric restriction benefits for male mice aging, exercise-induced metabolic changes in aged mice, and the effects of plant-based diets on gut microbiota. Her findings contribute to translational research aiming to mitigate age-related metabolic decline and improve health outcomes through targeted interventions.
No scientific awards or major grants are explicitly listed. Her lab’s activities are integrated with the ACBS Graduate Program at the University of Arizona, fostering training in comparative and systems biology approaches to metabolism.
