Dr. Jennifer Cobbe is an Assistant Professor in Law and Technology at the University of Cambridge’s Faculty of Law and a Fellow of Queens’ College. She holds a PhD and LLM from Queen’s University, Belfast, focusing on machine learning, surveillance, and legal frameworks. Her research bridges law, technology, and political economy, examining topics like AI accountability, data protection, and regulatory challenges in digital systems.
She is affiliated with the Centre for Intellectual Property and Information Law (CIPIL), the Microsoft Cloud Computing Research Centre, and the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law. Her work addresses how legal systems intersect with technological infrastructures, advocating for robust governance frameworks to address power dynamics in informational capitalism.
Key areas include algorithmic transparency, automated decision-making, and ethical AI deployment. She co-leads projects on accountable algorithmic systems and has published widely on topics such as AI-as-a-service, data protection in tech startups, and smart city governance.
