Jennifer C. Rossi is an Associate Professor and Chair of the American Studies Department at St. John Fisher University, serving as Interim Program Director for African American Studies. Her work bridges academia and community engagement, focusing on anti-racism, social justice, and pedagogy. She holds a Ph.D. from the University at Buffalo, SUNY, and teaches courses in American Studies, African American Studies, and Women and Gender Studies.
Dr. Rossi’s research explores dialogue studies, post-pandemic pedagogies, and Black women’s literature. She develops community-engaged initiatives like Casual Conversations and service-learning projects, including an annual Toy Drive for Mary’s Place Refugee Outreach. Her publications address topics such as exile narratives, refugee citizenship, and intersectional literary criticism.
Active on committees like the Fisher Core Committee and First-Year Programs Advisory Board, she emphasizes place-based learning in Rochester. Her teaching philosophy integrates Black feminist methodologies and community partnerships, fostering student engagement with local social issues.
