Jennifer Augustine

Jennifer Augustine is a Professor of Sociology and Undergraduate Program Director at the University of South Carolina. Her research examines social inequalities in family life, focusing on gender, parenting time, and maternal education.

She directs the Family Inequality Research Lab and holds a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin (2011). Funded projects include NIH studies on maternal education and family wellbeing.

Research explores how work flexibility shapes parenting time, pandemic impacts on parental happiness, and educational disparities in family wellbeing. Recent articles analyze remote work benefits for caregivers and racial gaps in parental happiness.

Awards include the Jam Hoem Award (2020) for innovative wellbeing research. She teaches family sociology, research methods, and inequality.
