Jennifer Ashley is a Term Associate Professor at George Mason University, affiliated with the Global Affairs Program and serving as Director of the Latin American Studies minor. Her research explores intersections of media, political subjectivity, democratization, and social movements in Latin America.
- Education: Ph.D. in Anthropology, Brown University
Her research focuses on political change through media analysis, including Chile's 2019-2020 protests and post-plebiscite democratization processes. She has developed a digital humanities platform (www.chile88.cl) as part of an ACLS-funded project.
Recent publications examine cultural dynamics of media transitions, parody in politics, and memory construction in Chilean contexts. These works span subfields like digital humanities, political campaigns, and affective politics.
