Jenn Martinsen is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Center for Business Communication within the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. Previously, she served as an Associate Professor of English (2017–2023) and Assistant Professor of English (2012–2016) at Newberry College. She holds a PhD in English from the University of South Carolina (2010), an MA in English from UNC Charlotte (2004), and a BA in English from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire (1999).
Her research interests span Victorian literature, James Bond studies, humor in literature, and pedagogical practices. She has presented widely on topics like Victorian comic illustrations, pop culture analysis (e.g., James Bond, *Buffy the Vampire Slayer*), and the intersection of literature and national identity. Recent work includes book reviews on Sherlock Holmes and conference presentations on espionage and spy culture.
Dr. Martinsen has received multiple teaching awards, including the W. C. “Billy” Carter Professorship Award (2021) and recognition for exemplary syllabi (2011). Her service contributions include roles such as Faculty Council Secretary at Newberry College, leadership in academic assessment initiatives, and advocacy for inclusive pedagogy and student well-being.
She actively engages in professional development, participating in workshops on Victorian literature, writing pedagogy, and diversity initiatives. Her affiliations include the South Atlantic Modern Language Association and the Jane Austen Society of North America.
