Jenepher Lennox Terrion is a Full Professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Ottawa, holding the University of Ottawa Chair in University Teaching since 2012. Her research focuses on interpersonal and organizational communication, particularly in educational settings, addiction recovery programs, and vulnerable populations. She has held academic roles since earning her Ph.D. in Communication from Concordia University (1993), preceded by an MA from SUNY Buffalo (1989) and a BA from the University of Ottawa (1987).
Her research interests include relational teaching behaviors in large classes, peer mentoring dynamics, and the communication needs of marginalized groups such as IVF patients and immigrant mothers. She has co-authored over 30 peer-reviewed articles and a textbook, Communication in Everyday Life (Oxford UP Canada, 2014), often collaborating with students. Her work emphasizes practical applications, including evaluations of negotiation skills training for women in STEM and service-learning programs for substance abusers.

Dr. Terrion’s awards include the 2012 Chair appointment recognizing her innovative approaches to teaching and learning. Her current research explores how professors’ motivational styles and syllabus language impact classroom evaluations, reflecting her dual focus on pedagogy and interpersonal dynamics.
She advises graduate student Eliza Sylvia and has supervised numerous collaborative projects with community organizations. Her work bridges academic theory with real-world challenges, addressing issues like mental health literacy among immigrant mothers and communication strategies in IVF support networks.
