Jelena Matić is a Professor at the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Forestry, Department of Woodworking, where she has been employed since 2004. She holds dual educational backgrounds in interior/furniture design (University of Arts in Belgrade) and woodworking (University of Belgrade).

- Master's: University of Art and Design 'Burg Giebichenstein', Germany (Interior Architecture)
Her research focuses on furniture design, sustainable design, and interior architecture, with specialized work in wood product shaping and interior decoration. She has mentored students through domestic/international workshops, leading to almost 100 awards for collaborative projects between academia and industry.
Notable scientific awards include DAAD scholarships, recognition from the Republic Foundation for Scientific and Artistic Youth, and prestigious accolades like the Golden Key of the Belgrade Furniture Fair. She actively standardizes furniture design practices as a member of the Institute for Standardization of Serbia.
