Jehanne Roul is a Lecturer in Medieval History at the Catholic University of the West (Angers), affiliated with the Faculty of Humanities. She holds positions such as Head of the Bachelor's Degree in History and has led various academic departments, including Geography and Political Science courses (2014–2016). Her research focuses on Carolingian literature, medieval rhetoric, and the reign of Louis the Pious, with a particular emphasis on Ermold the Black's works.
Since 2006, she has taught courses on Latin sources, medieval history, and cultural identity at undergraduate and graduate levels. Notable courses include 'The Carolingian Worlds' and 'A Long History of France (52 BC–1814)'. She also organized international conferences, such as 'Les êtres et leurs restes' (2021) and co-chaired sessions on medieval sung repertoires (2020).
Her doctoral thesis (2017) and publications analyze Ermold le Noir’s poem as a reflection of Carolingian imperial policy. She actively engages in interdisciplinary research projects like PRASORE (Sound Practices in Research) and TRAMéS (Arts and Cultural Hybridity).
