معرفی
Dr. Jeg Tiego is a Senior Research Fellow at the Turner Institute for Brain & Mental Health and School of Psychological Sciences at Monash University. He holds a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Emerging Research Fellowship and coordinates flagship projects on adult psychopathology with the HiTOP consortium, challenging traditional psychiatric diagnostic systems. His work focuses on integrating molecular genetics, neuroimaging, and cognitive data to improve mental health diagnostics and treatment.
Research Interests
Dr. Tiego specializes in statistical approaches like structural equation modeling to study addiction, psychiatric genetics, and neuroimaging. His research bridges biology-behavior relationships, emphasizing cross-disciplinary collaboration to advance psychiatric nosology and treatment efficacy. Key areas include transdiagnostic taxonomies, ADHD in Indigenous Australian children, and compulsivity mechanisms in addictive behaviors.
Recent Trends in Research
His 2023-2025 publications highlight neuroimaging-based phenotyping, genetic influences on brain function, and the impact of trauma on psychopathology. Recent work explores cortical abnormalities in psychosis and white matter heterogeneity across disorders. Collaborations span global consortia like ENIGMA, emphasizing reproducible brain-behavior associations.
Awards & Grants
Recipient of the NHMRC Investigator Grant (2024), Turner Impact Fellowship (2021), and multiple peer-review roles for journals like Psychological Medicine. Active in public engagement, notably via the Monash Brain and Behaviour Twins Project.
Advising & Impact
Supervises PhD students since 2018 and leads projects funded by Australian ADHD Professionals Association. Coordinates international studies on ADHD, autism, and compulsive behaviors. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to good health and well-being (SDG 3).
Labs & Consortia
Coordinates two HiTOP projects, collaborates with the ENIGMA consortium, and manages the MAGNET project studying neurodevelopmental disorders. His lab focuses on precision phenotyping to uncover biological correlates of psychiatric conditions.
