Jeffrey Wong is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting and Corporate Governance at Macquarie University. His expertise spans accounting and finance with specializations in energy finance, ESG, market behavior, corporate decision-making, financial regulations, and securities market microstructure.
Dr. Wong earned his PhD and Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) from the University of Sydney. His academic credentials are complemented by extensive industry experience.
Professor Wong's research focuses on the intersection of energy markets, financial regulations, and corporate behavior. His work examines how energy prices impact corporate decisions, the value relevance of ESG factors to investors, high frequency trading dynamics, market fragmentation, and institutional behavior in financial markets. He has made significant contributions to understanding the complex relationships in financial markets and securities market microstructure.
His recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on contemporary financial issues including cybersecurity risks in financial markets, political risks affecting carbon emissions, ESG reputation management, and the relationship between oil price movements and market liquidity. These works reflect his expertise in both traditional finance areas and emerging concerns in sustainable finance.

His external engagement includes serving as Head of the Energy Markets Research Centre at the Capital Markets CRC Limited since August 2017, working with the Australian Energy Regulator, and consulting for the Australia (NSW) government on energy research projects. Prior to academia, he held executive positions at Singapore Exchange and in the funds management industry.
