Jeffrey Tang serves as the Interim Dean of the College of Integrated Science and Engineering (CISE) at James Madison University (JMU), a role he has held since 2024. Previously, he was Associate Dean of CISE (2018–2024) and Interim Department Head of Integrated Science and Technology (2016–2018). Tang holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in History and Sociology of Science from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.Phil. in Economic and Social History from Oxford University, and a B.A. in Economics from Northwestern University.
His academic focus spans interdisciplinary science and technology studies, with teaching responsibilities including courses on complex systems, global water crises, and the social context of science. He has contributed to curriculum development through courses like Global Water Crisis and Complex Systems and How They Fail. His administrative roles emphasize institutional leadership in STEM education and program coordination.
Tang's career at JMU spans over two decades, beginning as a Visiting Assistant Professor (2005–2006) before becoming a tenure-track faculty member in 2006. His academic service includes roles as Assistant Department Head (2010–2013) and持续贡献于跨学科学术项目开发。
