Jeffrey Matthew Hoch is a Professor in the Department of Marine and Environmental Sciences at Nova Southeastern University's Halmos College of Arts and Sciences. He teaches courses in Environmental Science, Marine Biology, and Biology, including the immersive honors course Medical London: Culture and Context with a week-long trip to England. His research spans wetland and marine ecology, behavioral ecology, and evolutionary biology, focusing on the Everglades restoration, barnacle reproduction, salt marsh dynamics, and socio-environmental issues like food deserts.
- Education: Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolution from Stony Brook University (2009), B.S. in Biological Science from Florida State University (2001).
- Research Interests: Everglades restoration, animal copulation functional morphology, nutrient cycling in wetlands, socio-economic food deserts, and wetland migration patterns.
- Recent Research Trends: Studies on phosphate dynamics in periphyton, metal contamination in Everglades firearm sites, and food accessibility using ecological diversity analyses. His work intersects environmental science, public health, and evolutionary biology.
