معرفی
Jeffrey L. Feder is a Full Professor at the University of Notre Dame, Department of Biological Sciences, specializing in Ecological and Evolutionary Genomics. He is affiliated with the Environmental Change Initiative, Eck Institute for Global Health, and Advanced Diagnostics and Therapeutics.
- Education: PhD in Zoology from Michigan State University (1988)
- Postdoctoral research: Princeton University (1989-1991), University of Chicago (1992-1993)
Feder’s research investigates speciation and ecological adaptation using Rhagoletis pomonella (apple maggot fly) as a model. His lab integrates molecular biology, population genetics, and field ecology to study sympatric speciation, host plant shifts, and genomic divergence. He also explores vector-borne disease diagnostics, particularly for Chagas disease.
Recent publications focus on genomic islands, hybridization, and the role of chromosomal inversions in speciation. His work spans Science, Nature Ecology and Evolution, and Ecology Letters, highlighting interdisciplinary approaches in evolutionary genomics.
Scientific Awards include the Sloan Foundation Fellowship, NSF CAREER Award, and fellowships at the Reilly Center and Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin. He has led major NSF IGERT grants for interdisciplinary graduate training.
