Jeffrey Klomp is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Michigan State University (MSU). He previously served as an Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Chicago and University of Illinois Chicago. Dr. Klomp received his Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the Van Andel Research Institute.
His research focuses on the role of RAS oncogene activation in cancer progression, particularly in pancreatic cancer. His lab investigates how RAS-dependent proliferation is maintained, including mechanisms of resistance to RAS inhibitors. They employ genomic and pharmacological tools in preclinical pancreatic cancer models to uncover therapeutic vulnerabilities.
Key research directions include understanding ERK MAPK signaling pathways, stromal reprogramming in cancer therapy, and drug resistance mechanisms. Collaborative studies extend to urothelial and renal cancers, leveraging genomic and proteomic analyses to improve patient outcomes.
The Klomp Lab’s work integrates experimental biology with translational approaches to accelerate the development of targeted therapies for RAS-driven malignancies.
