He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. His research focuses on Game Theory, Microeconomic Theory, and Industrial Organization, with particular expertise in bounded rationality, inductive game theory, and contractual disputes. Kline has led two major ARC-funded research projects: 'Games and decisions with bounded rationality: theory and economic implications' (2012–2014) and 'Inductive Game Theory: Experiential Knowledge, Interactions, and Limited Inferences in Social Contexts' (2011–2013).
His work examines theoretical frameworks for understanding decision-making under uncertainty, strategic behavior with limited information, and contractual ambiguities. Notable contributions include analyzing memory models in games, inductive learning processes, and applications of game theory to institutional corruption and emissions trading systems. Kline supervises doctoral candidates in tax competition policy and media platform competition, reflecting his interdisciplinary approach to economic analysis.
