Jeffrey J. Anderson is a full professor at Georgetown University, holding joint appointments in the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service and the Department of Government. He previously served as Graf Goltz Professor & Director of the BMW Center for German and European Studies (2002–2018) and has taught at Emory University and Brown University. His research focuses on comparative political economy, European integration, and Germany's role in the EU. He co-leads the Heartlands Transformation Network addressing socio-economic challenges in industrial regions of the US and Europe.

His research interests bridge political economy and EU studies, with emphasis on Germany's domestic and transnational policies. Recent work examines the political consequences of deindustrialization in 'heartland' regions and their links to anti-democratic movements.
Key publications include German Unification and the Union of Europe (1999) and The Territorial Imperative (1992). His scholarship has been recognized with the DAAD Prize (2000) and Germany's Officer's Cross (2016).
