Jeffrey H. Bloodworth

Jeffrey H. Bloodworth is a Professor of History and current Department Chair at Gannon University's School of Public Service & Global Affairs. He teaches courses in modern American political history (1960s, elections, post-WWII America) and genocide studies (comparative genocide, Holocaust), often combining these with global travel programs to Washington D.C., London, Berlin, Poland, Bosnia, and the Middle East.

Research Interests center on American liberalism (1968-1992), genocide studies (Holocaust, Bosnian genocide), and liberal internationalism. His book Losing the Center: A History of American Liberalism, 1968-1992 (2013) and ongoing biography of Speaker Carl Albert frame his analysis of 20th-century political movements.

Academic Contributions include 15+ peer-reviewed articles/chapters on topics like Jimmy Carter’s welfare policy, Weather Underground’s global ties, and Henry Jackson’s human rights diplomacy. Articles span periods from the 1968 election to 21st-century liberalism, with geographic focus on Central Europe, the Balkans, and US politics.
