Jeffrey Greeson, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Rowan University's College of Science & Mathematics with joint appointments at Cooper Medical School and Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine. He directs the Mindfulness, Stress & Health Lab, investigating mindfulness mechanisms through interdisciplinary approaches integrating psychology, neuroscience, and medicine. His translational research examines biological pathways (stress physiology, gene expression), clinical applications, and demographic influences on mind-body health.
Dr. Greeson's research expertise spans:
- Health Psychology: Psychosomatic processes in chronic diseases
- Integrative Medicine: Mindfulness interventions for clinical populations
- Stress Physiology: Cortisol responses, cardiovascular reactivity
- Mindfulomics: Genomics/metabolomics intersections with mindfulness
Recent publications (2019-2024) demonstrate:
- RCTs of mobile mindfulness interventions for ICU survivors (JAMA Internal Medicine 2024)
- Studies on physician compassion impacting surgical outcomes
- Mindfulness-stress-academic performance relationships in students
- Demographic moderators of mind-body health
Awards and recognition:
- American Psychosomatic Society Citation Poster (2023)
- NIH/NCCIH Career Development Award
- Nova Institute for Health Fellowship
- Francis R. Lax Professional Development Award
Dr. Greeson mentors doctoral candidates and undergraduates, with 70+ trainees advancing to medical/graduate programs. His lab secures funding from NIH, NJ Health Foundation, and Camden Health Research Initiative for studies on mindfulness interventions, compassion in healthcare, and biomarker research.
The Mindfulness, Stress & Health Lab uses multimodal methods (surveys, lab experiments, clinical trials) and relocated to Cooper Medical School to enhance psychology-medicine collaborations. Current projects focus on brief mindfulness protocols for clinical settings and mindful emotion regulation.
