Jeffrey Gould is the Robert L. Hess Endowed Professor of Pediatrics at Stanford University's School of Medicine, specializing in Neonatal and Developmental Medicine. He directs the Perinatal Epidemiology and Health Outcomes Research Unit and leads the California Perinatal Quality Care Collaborative (CPQCC), a network of 104 hospitals improving neonatal care through standardized data sharing. His research focuses on population-based strategies to assess and enhance the quality of perinatal care, particularly addressing racial disparities and optimizing outcomes for preterm infants.
Educated at the University of Rochester School of Medicine (MD, 1965), Gould teaches courses including Independent Studies in Pediatrics and Medical Scholars Research. His work spans epidemiological trends in NICU admissions, disparities in survival outcomes, and methodological rigor in perinatal research. Key contributions include analyzing NEC incidence across ethnic groups and evaluating the impact of in situ simulation training on neonatal care quality.
Gould's publications emphasize equity in healthcare access and outcomes, with findings published in journals like Pediatrics and Scientific Reports. His collaborative initiatives aim to bridge gaps in maternal and neonatal care through evidence-based interventions and data-driven improvements.
