Jeffrey Dippmann is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Central Washington University's College of Arts & Humanities since 2000. He holds a Ph.D. in Chinese Buddhist Studies and M.A. in Medieval Christianity from Northwestern University, with B.A. double majors in Comparative Religion and History from University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
- Co-director of study-abroad programs to Buddhist sites in China, Cambodia, and Vietnam
- Director of Asian Studies for 15 years
His research focuses on Chinese religions and philosophy, particularly Daoism and Buddhism, with explorations into comparative monasticism, apocalypticism, religious violence, and nonviolent alternatives. His recent publications include co-edited works on Daoist texts and articles analyzing Daoist conceptions of contentment and gender roles.
Scientific awards include the Distinguished Professor of Service (2007) and College of Arts & Humanities Outstanding Faculty Service Award (2016). He has held leadership roles in academic organizations including President of Pacific Northwest Region of AAR/SBL and CWU Faculty Senate Chair.
