معرفی
Jeffrey A. Borgia, PhD is a Professor at Rush University Medical Center with dual appointments in the Department of Anatomy & Cell Biology and Department of Pathology. He joined the Rush faculty in 2002 after completing his post-doctoral studies and has established a significant research program focused on cancer biology and diagnostic development.
Dr. Borgia's research interests span multiple critical areas in oncology including the development of novel serum biomarkers for lung cancer screening, investigation of tumor metastasis mechanisms, study of cancer cachexia in lung cancer patients, and elucidation of autoimmunity in lung cancer progression. His laboratory employs advanced proteomic technologies to identify molecular phenotypic features of early-stage lung cancer tumors to better predict metastatic progression.
His laboratory utilizes cutting-edge equipment including an Agilent 6495 QQQ Mass Spectrometer with Agilent 1290 UHPLC system, Luminex FlexMAP 3D, and BioRad electrophoresis workflows to advance his research objectives. Dr. Borgia has secured significant funding from multiple sources including the National Cancer Institute, Tempus AI, Serum Detect, Inc., and various foundations to support his research program.
- Piccolo Foundation: Principal Investigator on proteomic analysis of breast cancer models
- Swim Across America: Co-Principal Investigator on lung cancer biomarker research
- Tempus AI: Principal Investigator on biorepository resource agreement
- National Cancer Institute: Multiple R01 and R21 grants for lung cancer biomarker development
Dr. Borgia mentors several graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in his laboratory and collaborates extensively with clinical colleagues to translate research findings into potential diagnostic applications. His team includes laboratory manager, clinical research coordinators, pathologist assistant, and multiple postdoctoral fellows working on various aspects of cancer biology and diagnostic development.
