Jeffery T. Walker is a University Professor and J. Frank Barefield, Jr. Endowed Chair in Communities and Crime at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He holds appointments in the College of Arts and Sciences (Criminal Justice Department) and the School of Public Health (Health Behavior). He has also served as Department Chairperson for Criminal Justice and Interim Chairperson for Social Work. His research focuses on the built environment's impact on crime, community engagement, computer forensics, and policing. Walker earned his PhD in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University.
