Jeff Ward is a Clinical Professor of Law at Duke University and Director of the Duke Center on Law & Technology (DCLT). He holds affiliations with Duke’s Initiative for Science & Society and Pratt School of Engineering, teaching technology-focused courses like Frontier AI & Robotics: Law & Ethics and Data Governance. Additionally, he serves as a Faculty Associate at Harvard University's Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society.

Ward’s research focuses on the intersection of law, technology, and ethics, particularly on ensuring equitable access to legal services through AI and emerging technologies. His work emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration and stakeholder engagement in shaping socio-technical futures.
As Director of the DCLT, he oversees programs like the Duke Law Tech Lab, Duke Law By Design, and the Digital Governance Design Studio. These initiatives develop technology solutions to enhance legal access and empower communities through human-centered design and innovation.
His professional background includes directing Duke’s Start-Up Ventures Clinic, supervising the Community Enterprise Clinic, and practicing M&A and capital markets law at Latham & Watkins. He also served as a Public Interest Law Initiative Fellow with the Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, Inc.
