Jeff Pruchnic is an Associate Professor in the Department of English and Associate Dean for Student Affairs in the Graduate School at Wayne State University. His research focuses on rhetoric and composition, critical theory, and the cultural impact of technology. He holds a Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University (2006) and a BA from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.
His work interrogates the intersections of rhetoric, ethics, and cybernetics, exploring how technologies reshape communication and ethical frameworks. Notable publications include Rhetoric and Ethics in the Cybernetic Age: The Transhuman Condition (Routledge, 2013) and articles on mixed-methods writing assessment, platform utopianism, and posthumanism.
Pruchnic teaches courses such as Composition Theory, Technical Communication, and Writing Technologies. He has collaborated on studies analyzing reflective writing practices and the assessment of student writing. His research emphasizes adapting rhetorical strategies to evolving technological landscapes.
