Jeff Loughary

Jeff Loughary is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Languages, Cultures, and Religions at Missouri State University, affiliated with the Reynolds College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities. He holds a BA in French and Spanish (2003), an MA in Teaching (2006), and an MS in English Language Teaching and Literacy Instruction (2023), and is a doctoral candidate in Composition and Applied Linguistics (Indiana University of Pennsylvania). He has taught since 2005, with Missouri teaching endorsements in K-12 French, Spanish, and English Learners.

He serves as the department’s dual credit liaison for Spanish, French, Mandarin, and Japanese programs and is involved in curriculum development for world languages. Professional roles include FLAM President-Elect (2021–2023) and consultant for the Show Me Multiliteracy Project.

• Awards: Jayne Abrate Québec Travel/Study Award (2023), Français des Affaires (2022), and multiple grants supporting language education.

Teaching responsibilities include French language courses, World Language Teacher Methods, and student teacher supervision. Advocacy for language education spans K-12 and higher education, with a focus on equity and global competence development.
