Jeff Duncan-Andrade is a Professor of Latina/o Studies and Race and Resistance Studies at San Francisco State University. He is also a founder of the Roses in Concrete Community School and the Community Responsive Education Group. With 29 years of experience as a teacher and school leader in East Oakland, his pedagogical approaches have been globally recognized for fostering student success. He has authored multiple books and journal articles, and his third book with Harvard Press is scheduled for Spring 2021.

Research Focus: Duncan-Andrade’s work centers on youth wellness, trauma-responsive education, curriculum reform, and culturally responsive teaching practices. He collaborates with educators and policymakers to develop equitable school environments.

- 2016 White House Invitee for National Teacher Appreciation Day
- National Commission on Teaching & America’s Future Commissioner (2015)
Professional Impact: He advises school districts, union leaders, and policymakers on teacher retention and systemic equity. His work extends to lab school innovations and community-responsive education models through the Roses in Concrete School and Community Responsive Education Group.
