Jed Rembold

Dr. Jed Rembold is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Computer Science department at Willamette University's School of Computer and Information Sciences. With a background in physics and astrophysics, he transitioned to computer science education as these fields became increasingly data-driven. His academic journey includes:

• Dual BS in Physics/Mathematics from Linfield University (2007)
• PhD in Physics/Astrophysics from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (2015)

His teaching focuses on foundational computational concepts including:

• Introductory Python programming
• Database management with SQL
• Integration of computational methods with natural sciences

He employs GitHub Classroom for assignment management and maintains extensive open educational resources.

Before academia, he contributed to the Magdalena Ridge 2.4m telescope project. Outside teaching, he enjoys sports, outdoor activities, and gaming.
