Jeannie Albrecht

Jeannie Albrecht serves as Professor and Department Chair of the Department of Computer Science at Williams College, with an adjunct affiliation at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Her academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Computer Science from UC San Diego (2007), M.S. from Duke University (2003), and B.S. in Math and Computer Science from Gettysburg College (2001).

Her primary research focus spans Networking and Distributed Systems, with significant contributions to computer forensics, mobile application management, and energy monitoring systems for smart homes. Since 2021, she has expanded her scholarly work into computer science education, developing curricular materials for elementary school children. Her research has been supported by prestigious NSF awards including a CAREER award (2009) and EAGER award (2014), along with substantial funding from the GENI project.

Professor Albrecht has made notable contributions to systems education, co-organizing the 2012 Distributed Systems Education Workshop with NSF support. She currently teaches undergraduate courses including Distributed Systems (CSCI 339), Computer Organization (CSCI 237), and The Socio-Techno Web (CSCI 102T), demonstrating her commitment to both technical depth and societal implications of computing.
