Dr. Jeanette Wilmanski serves as an Associate Professor of Biology at Saint Peter's University, her alma mater (class of 2000). After earning her Ph.D. at UMDNJ and completing a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University, she returned to teach at Saint Peter's, where her office is located in Gannon Hall, Room 108.
Education:
- Ph.D. from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey
- B.S. from Saint Peter's College
Her research focuses on innate immunology and genetic susceptibility to Crohn's disease and Colitis, while her ecological work centers on the university's rooftop garden initiative for sustainability and plant biodiversity studies. This aligns with Saint Peter's recognition by the Princeton Review as an environmentally responsible institution.
As a first-generation commuter student and Polish-American alumna, Dr. Wilmanski emphasizes mentorship for underrepresented students, noting the Biology department's predominantly female faculty provides critical role models. She teaches General Biology I/II, labs, and Cell and Molecular Biology while integrating classroom learning with experiential activities like the rooftop garden project.
