Jeanette Pifer serves as an Affiliate Professor of New Testament at Talbot School of Theology, Biola University. She holds a Ph.D. from Durham University, an M.A. from Talbot School of Theology, and a B.A. from Biola University.
Her academic background includes:
- Ph.D. from Durham University (studied under Professor John Barclay)
- M.A. from Talbot School of Theology
- B.A. from Biola University
Dr. Pifer's research focuses on New Testament studies, particularly Pauline theology and the concept of faith in Paul's writings. Her scholarly work bridges exegetical precision with theological depth, examining how faith functions as participatory relationship in Pauline thought.
Her publications demonstrate a strong engagement with both contemporary scholarship and historical theological resources, particularly through her work on the Lightfoot Legacy project which brought to publication previously unpublished commentaries by J.B. Lightfoot. These works span multiple New Testament texts including Pauline epistles, the Gospel of John, and Acts of the Apostles.
She is actively involved in academic communities:
- British New Testament Society
- Tyndale Fellowship
- Society of Biblical Literature
- Evangelical Theological Society
Before joining Biola, Dr. Pifer taught at Cranmer Hall in Durham, England, and has served in various ministry capacities including evangelistic and humanitarian work with orphans in the former Soviet Union, facilitating theological training worldwide, and serving in a church plant in Whittier, California.
