Professeur agrégé at the Université de Montréal's Département de sciences biologiques within the Faculté des arts et des sciences. His research focuses on aquatic biogeochemistry and landscape ecology, particularly the interplay between dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and ecosystem processes. He leads projects on carbon, nutrient, and contaminant dynamics in freshwater systems, emphasizing boreal and temperate regions. He co-directs the GRIL (Groupe de recherche interuniversitaire en Limnologie) and teaches courses like BIO-2820 and BIO-3843.
Current research includes the biogeochemical impacts of wildfires, hydroelectric dams, and climate change on lakes and rivers. He supervises 13+ graduate students since 2020, focusing on topics like mercury mobilization, peatland carbon dynamics, and land-water interface processes.
He has secured grants from the FRQNT, CRSNG, and Hydro-Québec, totaling over CAD 5M. His work spans 50+ peer-reviewed articles, emphasizing DOC reactivity, continental-scale patterns, and contaminant transport.
