Jean-François Bouchard is a Professor at the School of Optometry, University of Montreal, where he serves as Director. His research focuses on the role of endocannabinoids in synaptogenesis and visual system plasticity, with applications to neurodegenerative diseases and retinal disorders.
- Education: B.Pharm. (1994) and Ph.D. in Biochemistry/Pharmacology (2000) from University of Montreal; Postdoctoral fellowship at Montreal Neurological Institute, McGill University (2004).
Research interests include:
- Mechanisms of synaptogenesis in the central nervous system
- Endocannabinoid system in retinal and visual brain function
- Development of therapeutic agents for congenital/traumatic neurological damage
- 3D imaging platforms for visual system analysis
