Jean E Boucher

Jean E Boucher PhD, RN, ANP-BC, AOCNP serves as Professor at UMass Chan Medical School with dual appointments in the T.H. Chan School of Medicine (Department of Medicine) and Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing. Her academic career spans over two decades since completing her PhD in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts Amherst/Worcester Collaborative Program in 2002.

Dr. Boucher's educational background includes a BS in Nursing from Fitchburg State College, MS in Adult Nurse Practitioner from Boston College, and PhD in Nursing from University of Massachusetts Medical School. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in psycho-social oncology nursing at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing in 2003.

Her research focuses on critical areas of cancer care including quality of life in colorectal cancer patients and partners, chemotherapy-induced diarrhea, patient-centered prostate cancer care, and cancer genetics. Dr. Boucher's scholarly work demonstrates consistent productivity with publications spanning 2010-2025, showing particular strength in clinical oncology nursing interventions and patient education. Her recent work emphasizes advance care planning, genetic testing initiatives, and nursing education innovations.

Among her notable achievements are multiple competitive grants including an Oncology Nursing Society Foundation Grant (2004-2008), NIH/NINR funding (2007-2010), and additional Oncology Nursing Foundation support (2010-2011). She currently serves as Co-Investigator on a UMass Medical School Interprofessional Educational Grant focused on Goals of Care Conversations for Advanced Care Planning.
