Jean-Baptiste Litrico is an Associate Professor of Strategy and Organization at Queen’s University’s Smith School of Business, with a joint appointment as Distinguished Faculty Fellow of Strategy. He serves as Director of the Queen’s University Centre for Social Impact. His research focuses on how organizations respond to societal demands, particularly in areas like social innovation, institutional change, and environmental sustainability. He holds a PhD in Management from McGill University, alongside degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Human Science from Université de Technologie de Compiègne, France.
Before academia, he worked in the global automotive industry across France, Germany, Canada, and Mexico, and consulted for UNESCO and the McConnell Family Foundation. He is fluent in French, English, Spanish, and German.
He has received awards including the Smith New Researcher Achievement Award and the Desautels Excellence in Teaching Award. His work has been published in journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, Organization Studies, and Stanford Social Innovation Review.
Teaching includes undergraduate and graduate courses in Strategy, Organization Theory, and Social Innovation. He has held visiting professor roles at Hitotsubashi University and Kwansei Gakuin University in Japan and in a McGill-ESPN program in Brazil. His research has been funded by grants from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and others.
He actively participates in academic service, including editorial roles at Strategic Organization and grant review panels. His work bridges theoretical contributions with practical impact on sustainability, social innovation, and organizational dynamics.
