Dr. Jay Wang serves as an Affiliate Assistant Professor in Teacher Education at Texas Tech University and is an active member of the STEM CORE initiative, focusing on interdisciplinary STEM education reform.
His academic background includes:
- Master of Science in Condensed Matter Physics, Beijing Normal University
- Doctor of Philosophy in Science Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Indiana University
Prior to his current role, he completed postdoctoral research at Florida International University's STEM Transformation Institute. His research examines scientific argumentation, science/physics identity development across secondary and college levels, and inquiry-based teaching methodologies for K-12 teacher preparation. Current projects target reforming science instructional methods courses for K-8 teacher candidates, bridging theory-practice gaps in field practicum, and enhancing pedagogical content knowledge among physics teaching assistants.
Within STEM CORE, he collaborates on university-wide efforts to advance evidence-based STEM pedagogy through faculty development and curriculum innovation.
