Jay Szkola is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Law & Justice Studies at Rowan University's College of Humanities & Social Sciences. His research examines community violence intervention (CVI) programs, credible messenger effectiveness, spatial crime analysis, and gun culture dynamics. Dr. Szkola brings practical experience from his previous role as Data Scientist at Everytown for Gun Safety.
His methodological approach combines quantitative spatial analysis with qualitative investigations into gun culture and violence prevention program implementation. Current research investigates the mechanisms through which credible messengers reduce violence and the evolving cultural dimensions of firearm ownership in America.
