Jay Radke is a Researcher at the Idaho Veterans Research and Education Foundation (IVREF), focusing on viral pathogenesis and immunology. His work explores the molecular mechanisms behind the divergent pathogenicity of human adenovirus strains Ad14 and Ad14p1, particularly their effects on inflammatory responses and lung injury. His lab uses Syrian hamsters as a model organism to study viral infections, including SARS-CoV-2 and adenoviruses, and investigates the role of viral microRNAs in immune modulation.
Current projects include engineering recombinant adenoviruses to study miRNA roles, improving Syrian hamster genome annotations, and developing antibodies for immune cell analysis. Dr. Radke’s research is funded by an NIH NIGMS Award (#P20GM103408).
He collaborates with multidisciplinary teams across institutions, including the University of Idaho, Boise State University, and Idaho State University, emphasizing translational research in virology and immunology.
