معرفی
Dr. Jay Gan is a Professor of Environmental Chemistry in the Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of California, Riverside (UCR). He served as Department Chair from 2007-2010 and currently holds editorial roles, including Co-Editor-in-Chief of Science of the Total Environment. His research focuses on environmental chemistry and toxicology of contaminants, including PCBs, pesticides, PPCPs, microplastics, and emerging contaminants. He has authored over 260 peer-reviewed articles and holds notable fellowships from the American Society of Agronomy, AAAS, Soil Science Society of America, and the American Chemical Society-AGRO Division.
Education: Ph.D. from Zhejiang University (1988), followed by postdoctoral training at the UN-IAEA Laboratories (Austria), University of Minnesota, and USDA Salinity Laboratory. He joined UCR faculty in 2001.
Research interests include contaminant fate/transport, bioavailability, and risk mitigation. His work addresses microplastic distribution, pesticide metabolism in plants, and advanced analytical methods. Recent studies explore microplastic deposition in alpine environments, transformation of tire additives, and safe reuse of treated wastewater in agriculture.
Scientific awards include multiple fellowships recognizing contributions to environmental science. His grants and projects focus on phytoremediation strategies and contaminant management in agroecosystems. He advises graduate students in Environmental Science and Toxicology programs, though specific advisee names are not listed in the provided materials.
Labs/teams: Active in environmental chemistry and toxicology research groups at UCR, contributing to interdisciplinary efforts in pollution mitigation and sustainable practices.
