Jay Berry

Jay Berry is Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and Chief of Complex Care Services at Boston Children's Hospital. His research examines healthcare delivery and outcomes for children with medical complexity.

Dr. Berry completed undergraduate studies at the University of Alabama, followed by medical training at the University of Alabama School of Medicine, residency at University of Utah, and fellowship at Harvard School of Public Health.

His research focuses on care models for medically complex children, including healthcare integration strategies, hospital readmission reduction, and discharge planning standards. Current NIH-funded projects develop machine learning approaches to study co-morbid conditions and high resource utilization patterns.

Recent publications (2024-2025) analyze pediatric mental health boarding challenges and postoperative pneumonia risks in neurologically impaired children, highlighting systemic healthcare challenges.

He founded the Complex Care Quality Improvement Research Collaborative and co-chairs the Academic Pediatrics Association Complex Care Special Interest Group.
