Javier Uceda

Javier Uceda is a Full Professor in the Department of Automatic Control, Electronic and Computer Engineering at the School of Industrial Engineering, Technical University of Madrid (UPM).

His educational background includes:

• Industrial Engineer from UPM in 1976
• Doctor in Industrial Engineering from UPM in 1979

Professor Uceda's research focuses on Power Electronics, Digital Systems, Automatic Control, and Computer Engineering. His main contributions are in switched-mode power supplies and dc/dc power converters for telecom and aerospace applications. He has published over 250 papers in international journals and conferences and holds several patents.

His notable awards include:

• IEEE Fellow (awarded December 2004)
• IEEE Third Millennium Medal

Prof. Uceda has served on the Editorial Board of the European Power Electronics and Drives Journal and as Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics. He holds leadership roles as Senior Member of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society Administrative Committee (previously Vice-President of Technical Activities) and Vice-President of the European Power Electronics and Drives Association Executive Council. He also serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of the NSF-sponsored Center for Power Electronics Systems (CPES) in the USA.

Administratively, he was UPM Vice-Rector for Research and Institutional Relations (2000-2004), Rector (2004-2013), and since 2013 has served as General Manager of the UPM "City of the Future" Initiative while maintaining active faculty duties.
