Javier Navarro Garcia

Dr. Javier Navarro Garcia is a Senior Research Scientist at CSIRO, specializing in sustainable agriculture and environmental modeling. He has developed spatial tools to assess agricultural productivity and environmental metrics, widely adopted in initiatives like the Australian National Outlook and Yield Gap Australia platform.

Javier applies Natural Language Processing and Deep Learning to extract knowledge from complex datasets, focusing on agricultural systems, life cycle assessment, and spatial modeling. His work includes the Land Use Trade-Offs (LUTO) model, which evaluates land use futures under global change scenarios.

He leads the Sustainability Assessment and Metrics team at CSIRO Agriculture and Food, contributes to the FABLE Consortium, and serves as an Equity and Diversity Contact Officer. His projects integrate big data and decision support systems to address environmental and agricultural challenges at local to national scales.
